The Fort Dodge Public Library is one of seven Iowa libraries partnering with the African American Historical Museum and Cultural Center of Iowa and the National Endowment for the Arts to present The Big Read centered on the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston.
A one-woman play entitled Queen Zora, written and performed by Ruth Anne Gaines, will be offered at the Fort Dodge Public Library on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at 2:00 pm. The play is based upon the life of Zora Neale Hurston, from her childhood of poverty in the rural south to her rise in the Harlem Renaissance.
